How to make Vallaraikeerai(Indian Pennywort) Chutney|வல்லாரை கீரை சட்னி|...

We have shown the traditional, easy and healthy making of Vallarai Keerai Chutney. Vallarai Keerai Thuvaiyal-Brahmi Leaves Chutney Recipe is easy and quick to do. Brahmi is a medicinal herb which has been used to cure many diseases. 
An easy way to add Brahmi to our diet is to have it as vallarai keerai chutney with curd rice. You can easily consume a lot when compared with having as a side dish for idli or dosa.


Vallarai Keerai - 1 bunch
Red Chili - 3 Nos
Tamarind - 1 small round
Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Urad DAl - 1 Tbsp
Grated coconut - 4 Tbsp
Small Onion - 6 -7

For Seasoning:
Oil - 1/2 Tbsp 
Curry Leaves - 4
Urad Dal - 1/2 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 Tbsp


Wash and keep the vallarai keerai aside.

Heat Oil and add red chili, tamarind, urad dal, and chana dal. Let them cook until it turns golden in color.

Add Chopped Onion and saute well.

Add Vallarai keerai and salt.

Stir and cook for 2 - 3 minutes until the vallarai keerai cooks well.

Finally, add grated coconut and saute for a minute.

Transfer to the mixer jar and cool for some time.

Grind into a fine paste.

Heat oil for seasoning the vallarai keerai chutney.

Add mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Let them crackle and add to the chutney.

Tasty and healthy chutney is ready to serve.

You can have this chutney with rice, idly or dosa.
